Backfit Clinic Re-Opening!

As you may know, our government and health authorities recently announced that businesses such as ours will be permitted to re-open their doors on May 19, 2020!

We are very excited to be able to offer you the same quality and level of service and care that we did before this pandemic hit, but with some necessary changes. Many procedures and policies will be updated to ensure your safety and that of our team.

For your health and safety, here are some of the changes that we are implementing:

  • All clinicians will be wearing masks during treatment
  • Sanitizing stations throughout the clinic
  • We have reconfigured the decompression area to allow for social distancing
  • We have adjusted our appointment times to ensure adequate time for proper cleaning of equipment & social distancing
  • We have removed wall traction
  • We will not be offering blankets in decompression due to sanitization concerns
  • We have plexiglass barriers at the front desk
  • Our treatment times are now very limited. Out of respect for your fellow patients, we ask that you adhere strictly to the appointment times you are given.
  • If you are more than 5 minutes late, you may forfeit your appointment time and you may incur a missed appointment fee of $25.

The following is a list of requests we have of you to help enhance everyone’s safety:

  • Please arrive on time (any earlier than 5 minutes and you may be asked to wait in your car)
  • Upon arrival, please sanitize or wash your hands
  • Please read the COVID-19 questionnaire and waiver at the front desk. If you have not yet signed one, you will be asked to do so.
  • Please bring your own mask if you prefer to wear one
  • Please avoid cash payments if possible

COVID-19 & Essential Services

Attention

As required by the Provincial Health Officer and the College of Chiropractors of BC, during the COVID-19 pandemic, chiropractors can only treat patients in-person when providing “emergent, urgent and/or essential care.”

You must schedule an appointment for in-person treatment. Unscheduled, drop-in treatments are not permitted.
Before you can schedule an in-person treatment, you must be interviewed by one of the Backfit Doctors to confirm whether you require “emergent, urgent and/or essential care” and to assess your risk for COVID-19 infection. If you are cleared to receive treatment, you will also be required to sign a waiver/document consenting to care upon arriving for your treatment.

Our Backfit Doctors must interview you over the phone or using internet communications. You cannot be interviewed in person.
To schedule an interview, email your Backfit Doctor directly. You can also contact us through facebook and our website. Because we are not fully staffed, phone calls may not be answered immediately but you are welcome to leave us a voicemail.

Message To Our Valued Clients, Regarding COVID-19

We would like to reassure you that at Backfit your health and safety, and that of our staff, is our top priority.

We pride ourselves on a clean and sanitary workplace where our equipment is sanitized and cleaned on a regular basis. In the face of COVID-19, we are taking extra measures, including regularly disinfecting shared spaces such as bathrooms and commonly-touched surfaces like chairs and treatment equipment.

We ask all patients to follow the advice and guidance of provincial health officials, including frequent hand washing, covering your mouth when coughing/sneezing, and staying at home if feeling unwell especially if you think you have been exposed to the virus.

Backfit is Moving to 3481 Cook Street

Backfit Clinic is moving!

Friday August 5th, 2016 will be the last day that we operate at 1091 McKenzie Ave. (in the DataTech building).
Aside from the usual weekend closure, we will also be closed Monday August 8th, 2016. Tuesday August 9th, 2016 we will re-open in our new home! The new facility is located at 3481 Cook Street near the intersection of Cook and Quadra (where Cook becomes Cloverdale).

All services and operating hours will resume as normal on Tuesday August 9th, 2016.

We are very excited about what the new state of the art facility has to offer. Some of the highlights include the following:

  • more natural lighting
  • improved air movement and quality
  • bigger gym space
  • improved decompression area
  • dedicated parking
  • integration of bank vault to preserve building history

Tips for Making Exercise Stick!

We all know the benefits of regular exercise. It’s one of the key components of building a healthy body and a healthy mind. So why do we often struggle with making our exercise habits stick?

Check out these tips and see what resonates with you. Make sure you read all the way through to see the special video we are sharing with you today!

1.  Schedule it! You are far more likely to follow through on your commitment to exercise when you have carved out specific days and times. Staying consistent is the only way to win.

2. Be accountable. Having an accountability partner is an asset in any area of your life. Plan your workouts or hikes with a friend! Also, make sure to get cutting stacks at roids if you want to take your fitness goals seriously.

3. Start small. If you are starting from scratch with an exercise routine, aim for 2 days per week and work your way up. Set yourself up for success by creating realistic goals.

4. Enjoy the journey. If you thrive in nature, don’t plan all your workouts in the gym. Incorporate hiking or biking into your routine.

5. Get clear.  Take a moment to reflect, write down, or journal about WHY exercising is important to you.  Clarity is the map to success.

6. Prevent injury.  Your spinal foams are a fantastic tool.  We suggest lying on your foams for 5 minutes before your activity.  This will help prepare your spine for the stresses and strains of exercising.  After the activity, we also recommend cooling off on your foams, for an additional 5 minutes.
